I snagged last minute tickets to Beyonce & Jay-Z’s “On The Run” Tour this afternoon and after a full hour in traffic between I-30 and my parking spot, I headed into the amazing AT&T Stadium and took my seat.

The show started around 9:15 with ’03 Bonnie & Clyde and I was immediately drawn into the star power of this iconic musical couple. Between the two of them they have conquered the world of music and seeing them on one stage it becomes immediately clear that not only are they very smart, but they are virtually unstoppable.

Beyonce nailed all of her familiar hits including Crazy In Love, Run The World (Girls), Ring The Alarm, Diva, Baby Boy, Drunk In Love, If I Were A Boy, Halo, and Single Ladies. She even added in a gut wrenching rendition of Resentment that wreaked of a woman who has had enough of a cheating husband, further adding fuel to the divorce rumors that surround the tour.

Jay-Z added to the 45 song set list with his incredible discography of tracks like Young Forever, Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)Izzo (H.O.V.A.)99 Problems, Holy Grail, Big Pimpin’, and Dirt Off Your Shoulder. Near the middle of the concert, Mr. Carter made what felt like (intentionally I’d wager) a sincere apology to Beyonce for his alleged infidelity with a deep version of Song Cry.

The show is perfectly executed and incredibly well staged. Pleasing to both the ear, and the eye, “On The Run” hits you hard with familiar tracks, and plays with your emotions. “On The Run” does not disappoint.

In closing, I’ll add that after seeing Beyonce & Jay-Z on stage together, I suspect that most of the rumors surrounding their marriage falling apart are just that, rumors. These two megastars combined, equal genius. That genius helped their relationship remain private until they were ready for the world to know. That genius kept the press out of their wedding, and their pregnancy away from the media until the very end. I don’t believe for a second that arguably the most successful couple in entertainment history would allow the public to be privy to their actual marital problems. They have created a storyline that accompanies the tour’s theme of love and loss…and we are all willing, and grateful spectators.
