We all think we know pretty much everything there is to know about Dallas, right? I’ll admit, I learned just about 53 new things about Dallas.

Some highlights:

  • The first convenience store opened in Dallas in 1927 under the name Tot’em Stores, which you probably now know as 7-Eleven.
  • The Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders made more overseas trips to entertain U.S. military troops than any other group or entertainers in the last 25 years.
  • The Texas Star Ferris wheel is the largest of its kind in the western hemisphere.
