“Last night I settled in to my bed after a long day and started watching The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, a nightly tradition since the show launched.
As we’ve all now heard, last night’s guest Jonah Hill recently made a homophobic comment toward a paparazzi who was harassing him, calling the pap a familiar epitaph for homosexual that starts with a F. His words were stupid, immature and angry. Last night on Fallon, he immediately addressed his actions.
I came out as gay at 15 years old, and went to high school in a relatively conservative part of town, and I can tell you that that very word haunted me for a majority of my childhood, before and after I came out. I am living proof that words do hurt. But, it is important to forgive as well. Jonah Hill made a mistake, and I for one not only believe he is sincerely sorry for what he said, but I also forgive him.
We are all just people, and we all make mistakes. Instead of hating each other…sometimes it’s best to forgive, forget, and love each other. I applaud you Jonah, thanks for setting an example of how to be an adult, own your mistake, and ask for forgiveness. I think we can all learn from your example.” – Kory
