School Throwing Prom On Friday Enforcing Strict Attendance Measures
Prom is one of the highlights of a high school student’s senior year. It’s the last hurrah with friends; the last dance. Lots of preparation, time, and money is spent to make sure it’s a night to remember with gowns, tuxes, limos, dinners, hotel rooms, and more. Most schools have their proms on Saturday, but one unidentified school’s Friday night prom is causing a bit of a stir.
The nameless high school is enforcing draconian attendance rules on students to make sure they are in class before the dance. There is no early release, no half day, and absolutely no excused absences being allowed on the day before or the day of prom. No doctor’s note or use of a “college day” is being allowed. If a student misses school, skips a class, or cuts out early, they will be barred from attending prom with no refund of their prom ticket.
It’s certainly harsh to say the least. Students would have very little time to get ready between school and the start of the dance. No time for hair appointments, mani/pedis, or picking up tuxes (and making sure all the bits and bobs are there).
The topic caused a stir with listeners. Check out what they had to say this morning!
