NFL Sues MIA For Over $16 Million, Singer Asks Madonna For Help
Everyone remembers Madonna’s Super Bowl half-time show back in 2012 and MIA’s infamous middle finger, especially the NFL.
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the NFL is taking legal action against the singer. In addition to the $1.5 million breach of contract fine, the league is suing fro $15.1 million in restitution.
That’s a grand total of $16.6 million, we doubt MIA will forget that middle finger anytime soon either.
The league is claiming the addition $15.5 million covers “the alleged value of public exposure she received by appearing for an approximately two minute segment during Madonna’s performance,” stating that, “The figure is based on what advertisers would have paid for ads during this time.”
The response papers filed by MIA’s attorneys state, “The claim for restitution lacks any basis in law, fact, or logic.” Adding, “continued pursuit of this proceeding is transparently an exercise by the NFL intended solely to bully and make an example of Respondents for daring to challenge NFL”.
Meanwhile MIA is tweeted asking Madonna for financial help:
What do you think? Should the NFL drop the lawsuit, or should MIA have to pay? Let us know in the comments below.
