Last night I had the honor of walking into the Winspear Opera House for the first time! As a theatre reviewer, and lover of all things Broadway, I was very excited to start my relationship with AT&T Performing Arts Center (AT&T PAC) with the announcement of the 2014-2015 Broadway Season Lineup, and what a lineup it is!

AT&T PAC President and CEO Doug Curtis opened the event with a few announcements about the Center Circle Membership Program, a great value for subscribers. He also teased that the critically acclaimed Matilda The Musical has chosen Dallas as one of only a handful of cities to kick off it’s inaugural North American tour as part of the 2015-2016 Broadway Series. Then he introduced CBS 11’s Teresa Frosini to announce the fabulous season lineup. I’ll work my way backward, because the best show (in my opinion) comes last.

The runaway Broadway hit and 9 time Tony Award winner, from the creators of Southpark, is returning to Dallas for a second trip through the Winspear Opera House! When I reviewed the show in Cleveland I was blown away! This is a DO NOT MISS show! The Book Of Mormon runs in the Winspear February 10 – 22, 2015, grab tickets and info here.

Motown The Musical

Motown The Musical is the true American dream story of Motown founder Berry Gordy. Music from Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson and more should make this a toe-tapping good time. It runs in the Winspear July 21st – August 9, 2015, grab tickets and info here.

Need I say more? No. Check out this Broadway classic when it rolls through the Winspear June 23 – July 5, 2015, tickets and info are here.

Disney’s Newsies

Twice (two years in a row) I have tried to see Newsies on Broadway, and both times I have had absolutely zero success getting tickets. Now, it’s coming to Dallas. Newsies has taken the Great White Way by storm, winning rave reviews from audiences and critics alike, and scoring the Tony Awards for Best Score, and Best Choreography. This is a DO NOT MISS show! It dances through Dallas April 29 – May 10, 2015, tickets and info are here.

Once

Winner of 8 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Once is (or so I’ve heard) a one-of-a-kind Broadway experience with live instruments, catchy tunes, and a heartfelt story that will touch even the most cynical theatergoer. Once plays the Winspear December 17 – 28, 2014, you can grab tickets and information here.

The next show literally made me shriek for joy, out loud, I got looks.

Seriously…brace yourself…my favorite Broadway musical of all time is next…

The Phantom Of The Opera

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s immortal classic The Phantom Of The Opera is on tour with a fabulous new production, and it’s coming to Dallas! I have been chomping at the bit to get a look at this tour, it sold out venues all over Europe last year, and is now coming to the Winspear. The most incredible musical ever produced takes the stage, in a REAL opera house August 6 – 24, 2014, grab tickets NOW!

As CBS Radio DFW’s theatre critic, I will be in the house for all of these shows, and will bring you in depth reviews from the perspective of an audience member. Is the show worth your money and 3 hours of your date night? I will let you know. Stay tuned!
