What movie was illegally downloaded more than 8 million times last year? If you guessed ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ than you are correct.

TorrentFreak is reporting that the Peter Jackson film leads the list of most-shared movies on BitTorrent netoworks in 2013 with 8.4 million estimated downloads.

Though ‘Django Unchained’ (8.1 million downloads) and ‘Fast And Furious 6′ (7.9 million downloads) were not far behind.

Other films that rounded out the top ten were ‘Iron Man 3′ (7.6 million downloads), ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ (7.5 million downloads), ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ (7.4 million downloads), ‘Gangster Squad’ (7.2 million downloads), ‘Now You See Me’ (7 million downloads), ‘The Hangover Part 3′ (6.9 million downloads), and ‘World War Z’ (6.7 million downloads).

Stranger than the fact that ‘Gangster Squad’ made the list is the fact that movies like ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’, ‘Man Of Steel’, ‘Despicable Me 2′, ‘Monsters University’, and ‘Gravity’ didn’t.

Although this seems like a lot of illegal downloading, these figures are actually down from the end of 2012.
