You would think that the first President to use email would be free to use the best technology has to offer for staying in touch and on top of business at his fingertips. Not so.
The Guardian reports that President Barack Obama is not allowed to have an iPhone due to fear of security risks. The Commander In Chief is restricted to using a Blackberry with a measly ten contacts.
“I am not allowed, for security reasons, to have an iPhone,” Obama confessed during a recent speech on his healthcare law.
You’d think the government would have the latest and best technology in the hands of our nation’s leader and his staff, but the iPhone has yet to be cleared for government and military use.
The Guardian also reports that Obama had to argue with the NSA just to be able to use a Blackberry.
The President’s daughters both have iPhones and use them frequently.
Despite being restricted to the Blackberry for official use, President Obama does have an iPad 2 that was given to him personally by Steve Jobs before it went on sale to the public in 2011.
