We were a little disappointed when a winter storm predicted for last Monday turned out to be nothing but rain, so many are skeptical about the forecast calling for freezing temperatures and precipitation that could bring Friday and the weekend to a frozen hault.

You know it’s serious when The Weather Channel sends Jim Cantore to Dallas to report on the winter storm. In order to get a real picture on how serious the situation will be tonight, tomorrow, and this weekend, we talked to CBS 11’s chief meteorologist Larry Mowry about what to expect as the thermometer takes a dive.

The cold air is here now, but temperatures will continue to fall throughout the day. By early afternoon, even as early as 11AM this morning, many of us will be at freezing, 32 degrees. Light rain will start just before the afternoon commute, but most roads should be good until after the sun goes down. Tonight, the precipitation will get heavier and the temperature will fall into the upper 20s. It’s possible we won’t see temps above freezing until Sunday or even Monday.
