Phil Collins is considering a return to music.
In an interview with German newspaper Bild Am Sonntag, (which we saw via England’s The Guardian) the 62-year-old drummer says he may return to touring or recording, or both.
“I have started thinking about doing new stuff,” he told the newspaper. “[Maybe playing] some shows again, even with Genesis. Everything is possible. We could tour in Australia and South America. We haven’t been there yet.”
Collins has not performed live since 2010, or with Genesis since 2007. A spinal injury sustained during the Genesis reunion tour left Collins unable to hold his drum sticks. However, his family has motivated him to perform.
“[My father is] doing really well,” Simon Collins, Phil’s oldest son and frontman for the prog-rock band Sound of Contact, told Smashing Interviews. “He’s starting to write again actually and spending more time with family, myself included.”
Collins’ last studio effort, Going Back, was released in 2010. The album features covers of ’60s Motown and soul standards.
