Colbie Caillat is currently putting finishing touches on her fourth studio album, which is currently planned for a spring 2014 release, and in an interview with MIX 105.1 in Orlando the singer gave away very few details about her upcoming release.
As of yet, the project is still currently untitled, nor have any singles from the album been announced for release. And she’s keeping tight lipped on many details, stating, ”It keeps changing, so now I’ve learned to shut my mouth.”
“It’s being pushed a little bit further [the release date] because we keep writing and we keep making these tweaks to just really perfect the album,” she shared. “I’ve learned to tell everyone it’s sometime in the spring. We’ll put a final date out at some point soon. It’s getting real close.”
Caillat did describe a recent songwriting session, giving a peek into her creative process.
“Just two weeks ago I was writing with Babyface and Jason Reeves and we started a song from scratch and Jason had this guitar idea and then I had this chorus melody, and then Kenny had the verse melody, and then the other writer came up with the concept of the song,” she said. “Kara DioGuardi said it was good. It’s like playing a game of ping pong…you just keep bouncing ideas off each other until its done. It’s a really fun process.”
When asked about referring to Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds as Kenny, she offered up, “I don’t like saying Babyface all the time because I feel silly, like that’s not his name. But then I say Kenny and people are like, ‘Who are you talking about?’ And then I’m like, ‘I guess I might as well say Babyface.’”
Whatever you want to call him, Caillat is truly to have Babyface working with her on this project. “You know all the work he’s done. I’m so honored to be in a room with him,” she offered up. “It’s incredible. It’s crazy.”
