There are many great Japanese traditions that involve picnicking outdoors and enjoying nature. The tradition of checking out the autumn moon is one of them. This Thursday, the Japan-American Society of Dallas/Fort Worth is joining with the Crow Collection of Asian Art for the 14th annual Japanese Moon Viewing Celebration this Thursday evening at White Rock Lake.

Come out to Winfrey Point at White Rock Lake to enjoy a wonderful evening under the moon and stars. From 6:30 to 9:30, you can enjoy a Japanese bento supper from Mr. Sushi, haiku poetry, music, and moon viewing. The Texas Astronomical Society will have telescopes set up so you can get up-close and personal with the moon while keeping your feet on the ground.

You will need to register and purchase tickets before you can attend. Admission for Crow Museum members is $10 for adults and $3 for kids 3-12; general admission is $18 for adults and $5 for kids 3-12. Find more information and get your tickets by visiting jasdfw.org.
