A Texas man so afraid of his wife he arranged for his friends to come “kidnap” him so that he could have a night out drinking. The 34-year-old from Edinburg, on the Texas-Mexico border, concocted the plan so that the missus wouldn’t give him a hard time about going out with his friends.

Fox News Latino reports that Rogelio Andaverde was at home with his wife when two masked men brandishing gun burst into their house.  They forced him out of the house while his wife panicked and called 911. Little did she know, it was his friends and they headed out for a night on the town.

Dozens of police officers turned out to search for Andaverde, but when no traces turned up, they started to become suspicious. There was no reason for anyone to kidnap Andaverde as he was a man of no consequence with no criminal history.

Andaverde casually showed up at home later, claiming he was released because the kidnappers showed him mercy and set him free. Investigators managed to get the truth out of him.

Andaverde was charged with making a false report and was released on $5,000 bail. No word on what sort of trouble awaited him when he got home, but it probably involved sleeping on the couch for a few nights.
