Two British men were handed down sentences in court after attacking a man while they were dressed up in Oompa Loompa costumes. Pretty sure Willy Wonka wasn’t happy about that.
Huff Post reports that Louis Gelinas and Matthew Wright had pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace during a prior hearing for attacking a 28-year-old man while they were wearing Oompa Loompa costumes.
Prosecutor Stephen Spence found it ironic that the two were dressed as the”peaceable characters” that Wonka employed in his fabled factory “to keep them away from trouble” in the beloved novel “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”
The pair of the 20-year-olds received their sentences for their mischief. Gelinas was sentenced to perform 240 hours of community service, and Wright has to serve 10 months in a young offenders’ institute.
