Today we will all take a little time to reflect. We will think about a day 12 years ago when all of our lives were changed. It was a day that changed our country, and it was a day that drew us closer together as a nation. On this Patriot Day, we will think about how great it is to be an American.
Around town there are ceremonies planned in remembrance of the 9/11 attacks. Here are a few happening today from CBSDFW.com:
The Colony’s fire crews will host a memorial ceremony at 8:45 a.m. at the Central Fire Station, located at 4900 Blair Oaks Drive, honoring the first responders who gave their lives.
In Fort Worth, Texas Motor Speedway and NASCAR will have a special ceremony in honor of first responders and recent Texas and Oklahoma tornado victims at 10:45 a.m. in Victory Lane. 50 local first responders will share their stories of heroism and there will be an appearance by a Sprint Cup contender.
Tonight, Coppell will host a Patriot Day Ceremony at 7:30 p.m. at Town Center Plaza, located at 255 Parkway Boulevard.
This weekend in Arlington, the DFW leg of the Patriot Day 5k will be taking place. It is one of 12 runs in 12 cities in honor of the 12 years since 9/11. It’ll be at Fish Creek Park, 2121 Havenwood Drive in Arlington, starting at 8AM. Registration is $35. Find out more information at patriotday5k.com.
