A Colorado man was arrested on Monday for riding a horse while intoxicated. If an RUI wasn’t enough, he had a pug name Bufford and a small black powder pistol in his backpack.

Huff Post reports that 45-year-old Patrick Neal Schumacher was arrested near the University of Colorado in Boulder. Schumacher told police that he was trying ride 600 miles to Utah to attend his brother’s wedding after losing his driver’s license.

Witnesses told police that they saw Schumacher hitting his horse, but he claims he was swatting flies from the horse’s head. He was arrested on charges of riding a horse while intoxicated (Yes, that’s a real charge), prohibited use of weapons, animal cruelty, and reckless endangerment.
