The Maine Redneck Olympic Games have been told they have to change their name. That did not deter them from holding their 3rd annual event over the weekend… under a slightly different name.
Huffington Post reports that the International Olympic Committee contacted the organizers of the event and told that they could not use “Olympics” in their name. Instead, organizer Harold Brooks on the fly to the Maine Redneck “Blank” Games.
“Everyone knows what the blank stands for,” Brooks said.
The Redneck “Blank” Games featured activities like bobbing for pigs feet and toilet seat horseshoes, among other activities.
The call from the IOC didn’t sit well with Brooks who think that if anyone had any say about who gets to use the word “Olympics,” it would be the ancient Greeks who invented the games.
