Ellen DeGeneres has been announced as the host of the 2014 Academy Awards. Though we wouldn’t put our money on this happening just yet, last year around this time Eddie Murphy was announced as the host of the 2013 Oscars. Of course this year’s Oscar’s was hosted by Family Guy creator Seth Macfarlane.
E!Online is reporting that producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron announced the news this morning.
Ellen, who hosted the Oscars back in 2007, said, “I am so excited to be hosting the Oscars for the second time. You know what they say—the third time’s the charm.”
“We are thrilled to have Ellen DeGeneres host the Oscars,” said Zadan and Meron in a statement. “As a longtime friend, we had always hoped to find a project for us to do together, and nothing could be more exciting than teaming up to do the Oscars. There are few stars today who have Ellen’s gift for comedy, with her great warmth and humanity. She is beloved everywhere, and we expect that the audience at the Dolby Theater, and in homes around the globe, will be as excited by this news as we are.”
Ellen also had this to tweet about returning to the Oscars:
