People gathered on a beach near Fort Meyers, Fla. on Monday to watch the release of a rescued sea turtle named “Tampa Red.” Red was rescued and nursed back to health after washing ashore in a red tide, according to Tampa Bay’s 10 News.

During the rescue, a masked bandit snuck into the purse of one woman and made off with her pink wallet. A news crew covering the turtle release witnessed the culprit dash off into nearby bushes with the young woman’s wallet.

The thief: a rascly raccoon.

The raccoon purse raider decided that the woman’s pink clutch wasn’t his style and abandoned the prize in the bushes before making a getaway.
