Kids And Having To “Go” In Public
A big question came to mind after an incident Julie witnessed at a local park. Is it okay for little kids to potty in public?
Julie was at a local park with a mommy friend watching their kids play in a splash park. Another mother came over to Julie’s friend to inform her that her 4-year-old son was going potty in the bushes just beside the splash fountains. Little boys can get away with it, but is that fair to little girls?
It might not be a big deal for boys who can easily conceal their actions, but for girls, it’s a matter of scrambling to get to a toilet in time. Even Tony who hosts his nieces and nephews at his backyard pool admits that he treats pottying outside differently if it’s a nephew or niece.
The general consensus is that you do what you need to do. Most toddlers haven’t reached that point of embarrassment yet, and it’s probably better that they “go” and not mess their clothes or leave “surprises” in the pool.
Here some of the responses we got this morning.
