Elderly Man Attempts To Steal Car But Takes Too Long Loading His Walker

A 64-year-old Australian man attempted to steal a woman’s car at knifepoint in front of a Kmart on Saturday. However, he didn’t make a speedy getaway as you’d expect. He was caught still loading his groceries and walker into the vehicle.

The Blaze reports that the man from Queensland approached a 22-year-old woman outside a Kmart in the city of Geelong and wielded a knife he apparently had just bought inside the store. The woman quickly called the police while the man began putting his shopping in her car and trying to load his walker. Police arrived before the man could drive off.

Geelong Senior-Constable Paul Mitchell says it’s “the most bizarre incident” he’s seen in his career.

The man was due in court yesterday. The Blaze mentions that the man was trying to head to South Australia.

The woman was uninjured and all of her belongings were recovered.
