She Mail Julie Fisk is here to help. If you’ve need advice or want us to hash out a problem on the air for you, let Julie share some of her wisdom. Here is this morning’s question:

Dear Julie,
I’m pretty upset with my Mom & Dad and I don’t know what to do. Last week I found out that my Dad had surgery. It was outpatient stuff, nothing serious, but I read about it on my Mom’s Facebook page! She thanked everyone for their thoughts & prayers, but she never even left me a voicemail about it. When I asked her about the surgery, Mom said that she only told people that she talk to regularly and acted like I was being silly.
It IS ridiculous, right? I shouldn’t learn about my Dad’ surgery on Facebook, should I?
I can’t wait to hear what you have to say about it.
Thank you,
Mad at Mom

Dear Mad at Mom,
We discussed your problem and think that there might be 2 things at work here. Either your Mom and Dad didn’t want to worry you OR they’re telling you that you’re being too distant. How often do you actually talk to or visit your parents? Those text messages and emails only go so far. Yes, they should have told you and your Mom’s response was passive-aggressive, but these ARE your parents and it sounds like their feelings are hurt. Try making a phone call or dropping by for a visit once a week. Then you won’t have to find out family news on Facebook.
