From Zazza & Julie
Tony shared this morning about a friend of his who is making all sorts of plans that could go very well or totally crash and burn. Being the concerned friend, Tony is trying to talk some sense into his friend before going through on plans that could make or break his relationship with his girlfriend of two years.
The friend’s plan involves getting both his family and her family to join them on a big trip to Hawaii. They will spend the first day getting to know each other and hanging out. On the second night, he intends to propose to his girlfriend, get married on the third day, and spend the rest of their 10-day vacation honeymooning with the families.
We discussed this morning what a bad idea this is. The friend has already made all the arrangements, put down deposits, and is dead set on going through with the idea. He’s even gone so far as to say that should the girlfriend not want to get married the next day, he’d break it off and walk away.
Julie offered a word of warning about women and their weddings. Tony’s friend hasn’t considered his girlfriend’s wishes, hopes, and ideas for her own wedding. Every woman usually has her wedding planned out from childhood. This guy hasn’t considered that she will want to go with her mom to buy a wedding dress or perhaps get fitted for an heirloom dress that will have to be brought to Hawaii. He also hasn’t considered any friends or bridesmaids she might want to have by her side.
