John Mayer Recording His First Album Since Undergoing Throat Surgery: Watch

John Mayer is back in the studio, and he’s got the video to prove it.

Mayer took to his Facebook page yesterday (May 28) to announce that he’s working on his sixth studio album and will be releasing a new video every Tuesday that will chronicle the recording process.

The first minute-long clip shows a day in the studio, specifically May 21. After a feedback-filled intro, fans get a look at Mayer showing off his pedal rig. “I’m a collector,” he says as he picks through a large drawer of colored guitar pedals. Watch the video below.

As for music, fans hear Mayer playing a bluesy guitar riff, and of course, showing off his best guitar face, along with a muffled recording of a new song that the singer playfully turns off only a few seconds in.

But for the most part, Mayer’s first studio session reveals little about his follow-up to 2012’s Born And Raised, his first since undergoing throat surgery last year. He doesn’t even let fans know the title or release date for the upcoming release.
