The Dallas Museum of Art has a lot of wonderful exhibits going on right now and coming soon. If you haven’t visited the DMA recently, maybe you should make it a point to do so very soon!
Right now, they have an exciting photography exhibit featuring the works of Cindy Sherman. Where many photographers hide behind the camera, Sherman fearlessly stood before her own camera as a model. She did it all, filling the roles of photographer, model, art director, makeup artist, and costume designer among other things to create interesting and provocative portraits. The Cindy Sherman exhibit runs through June 9th.
Chagall: Beyond Color is another wonderful exhibit currently on display at the DMA. In addition to wonderfully colorful paintings, you can see his works in other mediums such as costumes, ceramics, sculptures, and much more. The centerpiece of the exhibit are costumes Chagall designed for the 1942 ballet production of Aleko. This exhibit is open through May 26th.
Coming soon to the DMA is The Body Beautiful in Ancient Greece: Masterworks from the British Museum. Opening May 5th and running through October 6th, this travelling exhibit features 120 items that show off the human form. These pieces of Greek and Roman art are magnificent and not to be missed!
General admission to the Dallas Museum of Art is now FREE, however you’ll still have to purchase tickets for special exhibits. Tickets for special exhibits are $16 for adults, $14 for seniors and military, $12 for students, and FREE for kids 12 and under. Find out more information by visiting dallasmuseumofart.org.
