Ron Corning Shares His Experience From The Bush Center Dedication
The eyes of the world were on Dallas yesterday as all our attention was on the dedication of the new George W. Bush Presidential Center at SMU yesterday. The event was invitation only, so many of us who could not be there in person watched from our televisions. One man who was there is WFAA’s Ron Corning. He had a once in a lifetime opportunity to cover the ceremonies locally alongside national news personalities like Matt Lauer and Diane Sawyer.
“I really think that it was a captivating scene there to see the five presidents,” he said this morning. One of the fascinating things to think about outside of the ceremony yesterday is that the men seated on the stage didn’t see eye to eye on policies. Bill Clinton unseated George H. W. Bush’s campaign for reelection. Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton were competitors for the Democratic nomination in the 2008 election. Ron said that, “all of that was in your mind but none of it was present on the stage.”
