We’ve all heard the acronym codenames like POTUS and FLOTUS for the President and First Lady of the United States, but they also have some pretty clever nicknames that the Secret Service uses to talk about them. With all the past and current Presidents in town, we thought we’d take a look at their codenames as well as those of the first ladies. From Wikipedia, here are the codenames:

  • Barak Obama – “Renegade”
    • Michelle Obama – “Renaissance”
  • George W. Bush – “Tumbler” or “Trailblazer”
    • Laura Bush – “Tempo”
  • Bill Clinton – “Eagle”
    • Hilary Clinton – “Evergreen”
  • George H. W. Bush – “Timberwolf”
    • Barbara Bush – “Snowbank” or “Tranquility”
  • Ronald Reagan – “Rawhide”
    • Nancy Reagan – “Rainbow”
  • Jimmy Carter – “Deacon”
    • Rosalynn Carter – “Dancer”
  • Gerald Ford – “Pass Key”
    • Betty Ford – “Pinafore”
  • Richard Nixon – “Searchlight”
    • Pat Nixon – “Starlight”
  • Lyndon B. Johnson – “Volunteer”
    • Lady Bird Johnson – “Victoria”
  • John F. Kennedy – “Lancer”
    • Jacqueline Kennedy – “Lace”

We found a Secret Service Codename Generator to find our codenames. Here’s what we got:

  • Julie – “Countess”
  • David – “Dressage”
  • John – “Justice”
  • Tony – “Sleeper”

Those aren’t the only names Tony generated for us. Check out what other names he generated for us!
