More and more people are seeing things in their food. From George Washington in a chicken nugget to the image of Jesus in anything from Cheetos to burnt toast, our eyes seek out the familiar in our food. A woman in Florida felt as if God was giving her a message through her snack food when she found a Goldfish cracker bearing a cross.
According to Yahoo! News, Patti Burke found manna from Heaven in her package of Goldfish crackers. She was examining her snacks for optimal flavor covering when she made the discovery.
“When I picked this one up, I knew he was special,” she says. “Something I’ve never seen before out of all the Goldfish I’ve eaten.”
The peculiar cracker that caught her eye had two odd markings on its surface. One marking in a cross with a circle around it. Another circle near the top of the head reminded Burke of a crown. Both of the markings appeared to Burke to be an affirmation of her Christian faith.
“I believe that it’s a sign, a sign from God,” she said. “He is still in our life every day, and he wants to show that to his people.”
Her first thought was that she’d won a contest, but upon calling Pepperidge Farms, she learned that it was not the case. Nevertheless, she now carries her blessed cracker in an earring box cushioned by gauze.
