Lite’s Review Room – Bruno Mars
Peter Gene Hernandez was born in Hawaii to a musical family (everyone played an instrument and sang and/or performed). Early influences were Elvis, Little Richard and Motown. As a teenager he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his music career. It was at that time he decided to take a stage name, Bruno Mars. His father had nicknamed him Bruno due to a resemblance to professional wrestler Bruno Sammartino. He added “Mars” because “many people thought he was from another planet.” Six million albums (sold) and 40 million singles (sold) later, he’s on a sold-out tour (the “Moonshine Jungle Tour”) of the U.S. and Canada (and playing American Airlines Center in Dallas on August 12th with Ellie Goulding). He has hits climbing the charts on top of each other, with “Locked Out of Heaven” and “When I Was Your Man” both huge hits.
