Student Arrested For Fresh-Prince Ringtone

Apparently an administrator in Beaver County, Pennsylvania has never seen The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air.

NME is reporting that last week a county-wide school lock down was triggered when a receptionist took the voicemail message of 19-year-old Travis Clawson as a school shooting threat. Clawson was rapping the theme song of the popular 90s sitcom in the message.

The receptionist called Clawson to confirm he was missing school for a dentist appointment. The phone went to voicemail, and the receptionist mistook the lyric, “Shooting some b-ball outside of the school” for “Shooting some people outside of the school.” Police were contacted and all schools in the area were placed on lock down.

Officials caught up with Clawson, who was visiting with his guidance councilor at the time, and he was taken into custody for questioning.

Eventually the misunderstanding was explained and the lock down was lifted.

Clawson was released, and no charges were filled. Though police did make him change is voicemail.
