It seems as though John Legend’s fiancée Chrissy Teigen was caught in the rumor mill this week after reports surfaced that the Sports Illustrated model was going to leave Legend if he didn’t marry her this year.
Rumors began after Teigen was interviewed during a launch party for the 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue this week and was asked about the progress of her and Legend’s wedding plans.
Teigen admitted that the couple, who got engaged in December 2011, have yet to set a date for the wedding, but she planned to walk down the aisle sometime this year.
She allegedly said, “If it’s not this year, I’m out.”
However, Teigen took to Twitter on Valentine’s Day to clear up the reported ultimatum for Legend, saying that her comments were all made in jest and there’s not really a ticking clock on their engagement.
“Marry me before the end of the year or I’m out” was not said seriously. People are idiots. Keep reaching. — christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) February 14, 2013
In fact, it might be some time before fans see Teigen walk down the aisle because the model admits that she’s taking her time when it comes to planning her wedding.
Teigen told New York Magazine that she changed her mind on having a picturesque Tennessee Farm ceremony and is now currently without a venue. She added that she’s ordered four wedding dresses, but isn’t having any luck on her nontraditional approach to getting the groom-to-be’s input on which dress to pick.
“The worst part is he won’t look at my dresses and tell me if he likes them,” she said.”He refuses to see them, but I want to know what shape he wants.”
Teigen added, “I might come out in the most ridiculous thing ever, and he’s going to be like ‘Oy, what have I done?’”
Hopefully some plans will be solidified in her upcoming reality series, Chrissy Teigen’s Hungry, which premiered on the Cooking Channel Wednesday and chronicles the planning of her and Legend’s wedding menu.
