JJ Abrams To Direct New Star Wars Movie
It was as if millions of voices cried out all at once… in delight!
Geeks and Jedis alike are all a-twitter after news broke yesterday that JJ Abrams has been picked to direct a new Star Wars movie. Word of Abrams’ new gig was at first brushed off a rumor without an official confirmation from Disney, Lucasfilm, or Abrams himself, but it picked up momentum over the day.
Star Wars Episode VII will be the first new film in the saga since Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and since Disney acquired Lucasfilm from George Lucas back in October of last year.
You might know the Emmy-award winning Abrams, famous for his signature lens flare, from Star Trek, the upcoming Star Trek Into Darkness, Super 8, and the TV show “Lost.”
However, despite his success with the Star Trek reboot, Abrams told the Los Angeles Times in 2009, “As a kid, ‘Star Wars‘ was much more my thing than ‘Star Trek‘ was.”
