Unborn Baby’s Fingernail Almost Kills Mother

Amelie and Ava Cottam barely made it into the world as they were born five weeks premature.

Their mom, Angela Cottam is lucky to have made it as well. A suspected hair or fingernail from one of the twins made its way into the bloodstream during the birth.

This only happens in one of every 80,000 births and caused Cottam internal bleeding and a collapsed lung.

“I feel so lucky to be here and really blessed that both the girls are with us because it could have been so different,” Cottam told FOX News.

Cottam’s family was told she might not pull through after losing seven pints of blood and being in a coma for 12 hours.
