Dancing With The Stars’ Brooke Burke-Charvet Reveals She Has Thyroid Cancer

Dancing With The Stars‘ co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet made an announcement yesterday that she will need surgery for thyroid cancer. The announcement was posted to the ModernMom Youtube channel.

In the video, Brooke shares that doctors found a “tiny nodule” during a routine checkup, and they called for a battery of additional tests.

Brooke says, “I got my results back days later and they were atypical, which means that the doctors couldn’t confirm whether the nodule was cancerous or benign. So I had to go and do a whole bunch of additional tests and get second opinions. Long story long, I got my results back and they were not good.”

Thyroid cancer is treatable with a high success rate of survival. Treatment for thyroid cancer involves surgery to remove the thyroid. A scar across Brook’s neck will serve as a life-long reminder.

“I don’t get to just walk around and pretend like nothing happened or not follow up or not share it, because it’s going to be pretty much dead center,” she adds as she points to her neck in the video.
