Amy Winehouse might have only died a year ago, but her life story is already coming to the stage.
The Danish Royal Theatre in Copenhagen has announced they are premiering a play based on the late singer’s life, debuting in 2013.
The show will focus on “the enormous pressure a sensationalist public put on a young superstar when her problems began,” the BBC reports. The script for the play is based off of interviews, acceptance speeches, concerts, newspapers articles, letters and songs. It will also feature music from Winehouse’s two records, 2003’s Frank and 2006’s Back To Black.
The untitled musical will premiere January 30 at the Danish Royal Theatre’s 220-capacity Red Room and will star 29-year-old actress Johanne Louise Schmidt.
A spokesperson for the Winehouse family has said they have no involvement with the show.
