Gene & Julie with Rankin Hobbs and his mom LuAnn.

It’s amazing what a kid can come up with when he’s bored on the weekend. 14-year old Rankin Hobbs came up with the most amazing idea to make sure this Saturday is not only filled with fun but also gives back to the community. Rankin has single-handedly organized a carnival to raise a goal of $1,000 for the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital.

Rankin made all the games, from plinko to bean bag tosses. He used his own money to buy prize candy and raffle prizes. Hear him share about coming up with the idea and putting the wheels in motion!

Dallas blogger Cynthia Smoot of Oh So Cynthia.com has heard about Rankin’s wonderful carnival and posted about it on her blog. She says Rankin is an example of the kind of people who make Dallas fabulous.

Rankin’s Halloween Hoe Down Carnival is Saturday, October 20th from 3PM to 6PM at Preston Hollow Park (On the corner of Park Lane and Thackery). It’s $10 for the first ticket, and $5 for each additional ticket. All the games can be played by kids ages 3 to 9, but anyone can come play. Come out to Preston Hollow Park to support Rankin’s big heart and brilliant mission.
