Two former champs were forced to say goodbye last night on Dancing With the Stars.

Racecar driver Helio Castroneves, the winner of season five, earned himself a score of 25.5 the night before, but that wasn’t enough to keep him in the competition.

Though it was a surprise to see Helio go, the driver took it well. Smiling as he thanked all of those who voted for him.

Season two winner Drew Lachey on the other hand was disappointed over his early exit. Though he was given rave reviews for his cha-cha the night before—Bruno Tonioli even compared his moves to Channing Tatum’s in Magic Mike—he still landed in the bottom three. Unfortunately the fan votes were unable to lift him up.

“People questioned why I came back,” Drew said. “Because this is fun. I wouldn’t change a thing.”

He later took to Twitter to express his love to all those who supported him.

One of his biggest supporters, his brother Nick, also tweeted about his disappointment over Drew going home.

Kirstie Alley, who narrowly beat out Drew, was excited she was given another chance and made sure she let fans know how much she appreciates them.

After coming in last and fighting with her partner Mark Ballas during rehearsal, Bristol Palin was happy to get another week to show off her skills. The reality star thanked her fans and gave them a sneak-peek of what goes on behind the scenes.

After the dancers were treated to a performance from Karmin, host Tom Bergeron revealed a twist for next week’s episode. Instead of having one style that all contestants will perform, the dancers picked the style for one of their competitors.

The list of dances even included a few styles that have never been performed on the DWTS stage like Bollywood, bolero and the jitterbug.

Here’s a look at the remaining nine contestants and what style they’ll be tackling next week.

Gilles Marini: Bollywood

Sabrina Bryan: Disco

Shawn Johnson: Mambo

Emmitt Smith: Bolero

Apolo Anton Ohno: Hip Hop

Melissa Rycroft: Jitterbug

Kelly Monaco: Contemporary

Kirstie Alley: Charleston

Bristol Palin: Rock and Roll

Eliminated:

Pamela Anderson (Week 1)

Joey Fatone (Week 2)

Drew Lachey & Helio Castroneves (Week 3)
