One of Hollywood’s longest standing marriages has come to an end. Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman have separated after 30 years of marriage.
They first met in 1970 when Rhea saw Danny perform in an off-Broadway production of “The Shrinking Bride.” They were together for 11 years before getting married on January 28th, 1982. They went on to have three children; a 29-year-old daughter, Lucy; a 27-year-old daughter, Grace; and a 25-year-old son, Jake.
Their relationship grew as their TV careers grew. Rhea got her TV break as Danny’s girlfriend on Taxi. She then landed her most famous role as snarky waitress Carla Tortelli on Cheers. Together, they started Jersey Films, which produced Pulp Fiction and Garden State.
With 30 years of marriage, Danny and Rhea were one of the rare long marriages in Hollywood, where many celebrity marriages have a shelf life of 6-7 years.
