At the Knox Street Apple Store in Uptown Dallas Monday and most of Tuesday the corner of the sidewalk looked more like the backyard of a large spacious backyard in McKinney than the urban corner of Dallas. A group of people from Black Book Ink decided to take waiting for the new iPhone 5 to the next level by setting up a ‘glamp-site’. The Glamorous campsite which has a tent that sleeps 9 and a covered patio with couches and a table went up Monday at the front of the line near the Apple Store.
By Tuesday, the glampers were asked to leave by Dallas police. Now the glampers are staying at the Hotel Zaza but still hold their place in line. The group still comes back to the site to sit in their spots during buisness hours, but they retreat to the hotel, where their glampsite has been replicated, to spend the night, for free.
The glamping idea is all about marketing for the Black Book Ink company and they told the Dallas Morning News that they have some fun things planned for the Friday launch of Apple’s newest phone. So you might just want to go hop in line.
