When you here the word triathlon, you probably imagine a muscular man who’s been training for months to participate in an amazing feat of athleticism. You don’t think of children ranging in ages from 4 to 13 participating in the three events that make up the triathlon: swimming, cycling, and running.
Get Healthy Texas Kids Triathlon is a wonderful event that benefits the Keller ISD Athletic Fund and is presented by CBS 11 and Dallas Athletes Racing. There are 3 different courses for the different age groups. Ages 4-6 will run the Leap Frogs course which includes swimming 25 yards, biking 1 mile, and running 1/3 of a mile. Ages 7-10 will run the Road Runners course which includes swimming 75 yards, biking 2 miles, and running 1 mile. Ages 11-13 will run the Gladiators course which includes swimming 125 yards, biking 3 miles, and running 1 mile. The purpose of the whole event isn’t about who finishes first, just that you finish and have fun!
Registration is open now at www.GetHealthyTexas.tv. It’s $35 per child which includes a tshirt and a finisher’s medal. The Get Healthy Kids Triathlon will be held on Saturday, September 29th starting at 7AM. For more information, visit www.GetHealthyTexas.tv or their Eventful page.
