McDonald’s is getting ready to roll out a new menu on Monday. This one doesn’t have any new salads, burgers or desserts, just information. The fast food chain is updating all their menu’s all over the country Monday with calorie information for their menu items.
The move comes ahead of a federal mandate that stipulates all restaurants with more than 20 stores post calorie information on their menus.
“We want to voluntarily do this,” said Jan Fields, president of McDonald’s USA. “We believe it will help educate customers.”
Cities like New York and Philadelphia already do this, but McDonald’s says they have not seen a change in what people order.
If you order the old number one value menu at McDonald’s now, you’ll notice your Big Mac, Fries and 16 oz Coke will run you 1,140 calories. More than half of the daily recommended intake.
Will seeing the calorie count change the way you order at fast food stops?
