As school budgets get tighter, programs get cut. Beneficial programs like physical education and funding to healthier lunch choices suffer. The Cooper Institute and the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas have teamed up to recognize the schools that have committed to become Healthy Zones.
Troy Aikman has stepped up to help recognize the schools that have brought back physical education and are making an effort to provide healthy lunches to students. He says there is a relation between fitness and success in the classroom. The Healthy Zone School program provides resources to schools to engage teachers, students, parents, and the community to join together in improving the area’s health.
Gene & Julie asked Troy his thoughts on the coming Cowboys’ season. He has good feelings about this year and thinks we’ll make it to the playoffs.
