As Hurricane Isaac bears down on New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, many people have evacuated to escape the onslaught. Along with evacuating people are animals and pets.
The SPCA in New Orleans packed up 110 cats and 80 dogs to be transported to North Texas, and yesterday, those cats and dogs arrived at the SPCA of Texas’ Perry Animal Center in McKinney. The Humane Society of South Mississippi has also sent 65 cats and 25 dogs to the SPCA’s Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas.
This week through Friday, August 31st, you can give these displaced animals a forever home in North Texas for a special 50% discount off adoption fees for dogs and cats. Both of the SPCA’s shelters will stay open until 8PM tonight, and will resume normal noon to 6PM hours tomorrow.
Russell H. Perry Animal Care Center is located at 8411 Stacy Rd in McKinney, and the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center is located at 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas. Stay up to date by going to spca.org/hurricaneisaac.
