Historically, women have scored as much as 5 points behind men on IQ tests, according to the UK’s Daily Mail. This led some psychologists to think that the difference in IQ was linked to genetic differences. However, that’s all changing.
“In the last 100 years the IQ scores of both men and women have risen but women’s have risen faster,” says James Flynn, a world-renowned IQ expert. ‘This is a consequence of modernity. The complexity of the modern world is making our brains adapt and raising our IQ.
Credit the complex demands of the modern world and women having to multitask to keep up with both work and family demands. Flynn says that the complex world demands more abstract thought. Women who need to think quickly on their feet while shuffling between work assignments, kids’ activities, and home management.
