Robinson Funeral Home, in Easley, South Carolina, has decided to try to soothe the grieving families of the dearly departed anyway they know how. Including providing them with their favorite Starbucks latte.
WSPA in Anderson, S.C. is reporting, the funeral home, which is now owned by its fourth generation of Robinsons, is adding onto its current facility. The new addition will include business offices, a chapel, and a special wing named “Coffee Corner”, which will soon house a Starbucks.
Owner Chris Robinson says that coffee has always been a big part of the business. His great-grandfather opened the funeral home inside a main street general store, where people would gather to drink coffee.
Robinson also wants to be clear he isn’t opening a coffee-house, it is just another service that people can choose from.
“You walk in the front, and it’s off to the side,” Robinson said. “It’s not like it’s right up front.”
A staff has been hired for the Starbucks franchise, and it will be open to the public and not just for those attending funeral services.
Starbucks will install equipment and menus at the end of July, and Robinson expects the shop to open sometime in August.
Robinson wants to assure worried funeral-goers that they will still provide free coffee at visitations and other services. “We’ll still have the homemade Robinson coffee, too,” he said.
