Your Ultimate Independence Day Fireworks & Festivals Guide
With the 4th of July falling midweek, it means the fireworks and festivities get spread across two weekends and an entire week of celebration. There are literally a ton of grand celebrations, concerts, fireworks, and festivals going on all over DFW!
It all kicks off this Saturday, June 30th, in Allen with Allen USA Celebration. This FREE festival is one you won’t want to miss because The Bangles are headlining!
The parties pick back up on Tuesday, July 3rd, with Kaboom Town in Addison. Definitely a show not to miss, especially with Emerald City leading the after party post-fireworks! Arlington is also getting the party rolling with Light Up Arlington. Food, fun, and live music before the fireworks light up the skies over downtown Arlington. Southlake will have their Stars & Stripes Festival in their beautiful town square off Southlake Boulevard.
Of course, the real party is on the 4th of July. In Dallas, Fair Park Fourth will be fun for the whole family. Enjoy music from the Dallas Wind Symphony and discount admission to the museums before the fireworks. DeSoto and Lancaster have partnered together to bring you a Fabulous Fourth of July Celebration at Lancaster Community Park. Farmers Branch is holding their annual Red, White, & Blue Independence Day Parade along Rawhide Parkway. Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie will have a Lone Stars & Stripes Fireworks Celebration with races, music, fun, and fireworks. Irving will have a parade through historic downtown Irving as well as a concert by the Irving Symphony Orchestra, fireworks, and fun for the family outside of the Irving Convention Center. Richardson will hold a Family Fourth Celebration in Breckinridge Park with music and fireworks. Rockwall will have a fireworks display at Myers Park just after dusk. Rowlett will have their Fireworks on Main festival in downtown Rowlett with live music by Blaze of Glory, a Bon Jovi cover band.
Folks along the north side will have plenty of celebrating on the Fourth as well. Frisco Freedom Fest will have fun for kids, live entertainment, fireworks, and an FC Dallas soccer match. The annual Red, White, & Lewisville fireworks show will be held at Vista Ridge Mall. McKinney has a full day planned for Red, White, & Boom with a parade, activities, entertainment, and a fireworks show set to music. Plano will have their All-American Fourth Fireworks Display next to the Spring Creek Campus of Collin College. The Colony is having a huge celebration with Liberty By The Lake Festival, featuring an Elvis impersonator contest and music by Live 80. Not to be out done, Flower Mound will have Independence Fest 2012 with multi-platinum record selling artists Smash Mouth headlining the FREE extravaganza.
Arlington, Fort Worth, and the Mid-Cities have a ton of great festivals, parades, and parties planned for July 4th. Arlington not only has a parade planned, but the Arlington Highlands shopping center also has a huge 4th of July Fireworks Extravaganza in store. Enjoy a splash at Bedford’s 4thFest at Bedford Boys Ranch. Fort Worth’s Fourth will be full of kayaking and tubing fun on the Trinity River with live music and fireworks at Panther Island Pavillion. Grapevine will have their Annual Fireworks Extravaganza over Lake Grapevine, and that is in addition to their SummerBlast fireworks show every Friday night. Hurst will be rocking with Emerald City on July 4th at Hurst Stars & Stripes 2012 at Hurst Community Park on Precinct Line Road. The cities of North Richland Hills, Richland Hills, Watauga, and Haltom City have joined together for Family 4th Fireworks, so grab a picnic blanket and bring the family to enjoy 20 minutes of fabulous fireworks!
The party still rolls on after the 4th of July. Crowley has a full day planned for Saturday, July 7th, with their Annual Celebration of Freedom; including a parade, lunch, music, and fireworks. And if you’re up for a road trip, Cedar Creek Lake is having Thunder Over Cedar Creek, the only air show over water in the southwest! It’s an awesome show with WWII dog fights, a MIG-17, and a B2 Stealth bomber. Stay after the show for a huge fireworks display after dark.
