Jennifer Hudson is the best mom. Well, at least according to her fiancé David Otunga.

In a recent article with People, Otunga says he couldn’t ask for a better mother of the couple’s two-year-old son, David, Jr. “I’m blessed to have such a wonderful woman in my life who cares for our child so lovingly,” he told the mag. “It’s made me love her just that much more.”

J Hud chalks this up to her own upbringing: “I care for my child like my mommy cared for me.”

During the murder trial of William Balfour, the man who was recently found guilty of killing the singer’s mom, brother and 7-year-old nephew back in 2008, Hudson spoke openly about her relationship with her mother, testifying that she slept with her until she was 16 years old. She also admitted that she would sign blank check and leave them for her mother so that she could pay household bills.

The couple plans to include their baby boy in their upcoming wedding. The two, who have been engaged for nearly four years, were waiting for the trial to end before getting hitched.

“That was something that was hanging over our heads for so long, and now we feel like we can finally breathe a sigh of relief,” Otunga said. “Everything is good now.”
