Three-Year-Old Kicked Off Flight For Throwing A Tantrum
A Washington state family’s vacation plans were put on hold when their 3-year-old son got a little antsy on the plane before take-off. When the kid started throwing a fit after his iPad was taken away the family flight headed back to the gate.
Mark Yanchak told a local radio station that him, his wife, 1-year-old son, 3-year-old son, and mother-in-law were on their way to St. Martin’s Island when his eldest son threw the fit.
“He was crying, being cranky,” Yanchak told KIRO-FM. “I started putting him in his seat. I put his seatbelt on. But he was being cranky, trying to be close to me, so he wasn’t fully fastened yet.”
Yanchak’s wife was in first class and came back to her husband to help calm the son down, which she accomplished. The plane taxied for takeoff before turning around and a crew member came and asked him and his son to get off the plane.
“They said it was captain’s orders,” he said.
The family ended up getting off the plane and skipping their vacation entirely even though the airline offered to rebook their flight. They said that the event scarred their son and he didn’t want to get back on the plane.
“As soon as we got off the plane he was like, ‘Dad, no fly, go home, let’s go home,'” Yanchak said. “I think the whole ordeal just scared him off. He didn’t want to fly again.”
The airline said that the staff on the flight didn’t want to deal with an issue with the child mid-flight.
