Drunken Grandparents Tow Grandchild In Toy Car

Some grandparents shouldn’t still be driving, or in this case even own a car. A Sarasota, Florida couple is accused of towing their 7-year-old granddaughter behind their car in a toy Hot Wheels car.

The driver, Grandpa Paul Berloni, 49, was also drunk behind the wheel.

Paul J. Berloni is charged with driving under the influence, child endangerment, and driving with a suspended license. He has been convicted three times prior for DUI.

Grandma Belinda Jean Berloni, 47, is also being charged with child endangerment.

Thankfully granddaughter was not injured.

Police spotted the grandparents of the year pulling the girl, who was wearing a swimsuit and no protective wear, about 5 to 10 miles per hour in a toy car that was tied to the trailer hitch of their SUV with two dog leashes.

Belinda admitted, “that she understood that it was dangerous to drag a child behind the vehicle but stated they were just having fun and had been doing this all day.”

The girl’s father, Belinda Berloni’s son, arrived at the scene and took custody of his daughter after becoming verbally upset with his mother, the deputy reported.

Sounds like grandma and grandpa won’t be asked to baby sit anytime soon.
