“Fifty Shades Of Grey” Author Stunned At Success Of Her Erotic Trilogy
The Fifty Shades Of Grey author, E.L. James, can’t believe the impact of her work, or the influence her books have had on the fantasies of women around the world. They have even captivated Leigh Ann.
“I have read the first two and I’m half way thru the 3rd. All the woman I know are reading them and men are shocked when they find out because the books are very erotic. Very! But boy do I LOVE them!” said everybody’s favorite afternoon host.
E.L. James is a suburban mother of two who wrote the books as Twilight fan fiction, and she is “stunned at how successful they have become. “I was amazed how popular it was. I’m still amazed,” she told TODAY’s Michelle Kosinski Tuesday (April 17th).
The books follow the relationship between the young student Anastasia Steele and the “very attractive” Christian Grey, who has “unruly dark-copper-colored hair and intense, bright gray eyes.” The couple embarks on a passionate affair after Steele “learns more about her own dark desires” in Grey’s “red room of pain.”
A movie adaptation of the books is in the works, and James said that her books aren’t groundbreaking.
“This is my midlife crisis, writ large,” she said. “All my fantasies in there, and that’s it.”
